Upholstery tack hammers are essential to the job. I use this one with a nylon tip with every decorative nail head project. The nylon top protects the metal nail head from being damaged when hammering it in, and is easily replaceable when it stats to get dinged up. The Metal end is also magnetic, which I have never actually found to be useful, but I guess it picks up tacks so…
